The Division Ranch

Division Ranch was purchased by Eva Pickard in 1971 from the Babson Foundation of Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Babson made his money by predicting the weather from a location near Fall River, Ks. These predictions were for the United States as a whole. It is believed the ranch was, at one time, part of the Z Bar Ranch (the Merril, Davis, Noland estate), now Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve.

Today, Division Ranch is owned by Guy Pickard (Eva’s son) of Kansas City. Jason Lewis has been the manager of Division Ranch for 26 years. The ranch is 5,200 acres located just North of Strong City on Flint Hills National Scenic Byway, Hwy 177.

The Ranch has been maintained as a cow/calf operation and takes in grass cattle every year. The ranch currently has 400 head of cow/calf pairs and will take in 350 head of grazing steers from May-July.

Jason and his wife Terri feel they have been blessed to raise three children on the ranch and carry on the cowboy/cowgirl traditions, which they hope will be passed on for many generations to come.
