Who were Henry and Wayne Rogler?
Henry Rogler was the youngest son of Charles Rogler He graduated from Kansas State Agricultural College in 1898. Henry married Maud Sauble in 1901. He developed the Rogler Ranch (Pioneer Bluffs) in the 20th century. He bought out his siblings' shares, consolidating 2,720 acres. Henry diversified the ranch by renting pastures to cattlemen. He was active in politics, serving in the Kansas House of Representatives and the Kansas Senate. He received the first Kansas Master Farmer Award in 1927.
His son, Wayne, continued to operate the ranch after him. Jim Hoy worked for Wayne in the fall of 1961 and described him as an "excellent cattleman rancher" who believed a rancher "raises grass" before cattle. Wayne was considered "interesting" to work for and taught Hoy local Flint Hills history. He was one of the first to discuss double stocking. Wayne took over the Rogler Ranch and expanded it. Like his father, he also served in the Kansas House of Representatives and Senate.
