SUMMARY:Symphony Day Open House (and Barn)
DESCRIPTION:Our barn and house will be open on Saturday\, June 11. Whether you are heading to the Symphony in the Flint Hills (which is just up the road from Pioneer Bluffs this year)\, or simply out enjoying the Flint Hills\, this is a chance to tour our National Register Historic District. Our volunteers will be in the house\, ready to greet you with cold water and homemade cookies. And our restroom facilities will be open. \nBring a picnic\, hike our Nature Trail\, take our self-guided tour.

SUMMARY:Volunteer Workday
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are happy people. Does volunteering make them happy\, or are happy people more likely to volunteer? According to studies\, the answer is both! \nVolunteers gather every month at Pioneer Bluffs and enjoy sharing a few hours of time. They chat\, laugh\, and get to know one another while making a difference. \nThe next Volunteer Workday at Pioneer Bluffs is Saturday\, December 4. The day begins around 8:30 a.m. with a conversation about the day’s plans. At about 9:00 a.m.\, volunteers split into teams and go to work. The day ends close to noon with a lunch and more conversation about what was accomplished. \nAll are invited to the December 4 Workday\, whether to join in the fun or simply to meet and ask questions of the volunteers. \nVolunteer tasks vary from physical to nonphysical\, skilled and unskilled. To be a Pioneer Bluffs volunteer\, it takes only a big heart and an interest in preserving and maintaining an important historic site. Those interested can simply show up\, no RSVP needed. \nThe plan for December 4 includes cleaning in the buildings\, trimming hedges\, doing an inventory\, and picking up sticks. In addition\, the original grain chute will be installed in the granary\, which involves several hands holding it up while it is secured in place. \nDetails of the day’s plans can be found on the Pioneer Bluffs Facebook event page. DESCRIPTION:Once again Match Day is upon us\, that day when a huge percentage of annual support originates for Pioneer Bluffs. \nYou may wonder how Match Day affects your giving.  The Emporia Community Foundation provides a pool of matching funds to selected organizations.
